In her own words
Aicia Colacci recounts how she made
her start in the field of culinary arts
I'm 27 years old and I went to Vanier College and graduated in Document Design and Multimedia
Technology in 2001 and then went to work at a media agency as a buyer and coordinator for four years.
Chef Gerry Cristiano, my teacher, mentioned the competition to our class at St. Pius X Culinary Institute in November 2006 and I decided to try and qualify for it. I thought it would be a great way to test how much pressure I could handle and to learn how to work under it. My three weeks of training with Chef Otto Daniels were wonderful. I learned a great deal about cooking, the industry and myself. It was a great experience that I would encourage every student to try.
Cooking has always been my passion. Ever since I was a little girl, I was baking and cooking with my mom and aunt. I finally decided years later to take the leap of faith and go to culinary school and pursue what I love
doing. This has been the best and most rewarding year of my life!
