REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registering your child at East Hill

In order to register your child as a student at East Hill School, students must meet certain eligibility criteria under the Charter of the French Language and the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport.

Eligibility Criteria:

Kindergarten:

  • Your child must be 5 years of age as of September 30th. Otherwise, you can apply for derogation. Please contact East Hill School or Student Services Department for details.
  • You must possess a valid Certificate of Eligibility* in the name of your child.

Grade 1:

  • Your child must be 6 years of age before September 30th. Otherwise, you can apply for derogation. Please contact East Hill School or Student Services Department for details.
  • You must possess a valid Certificate of Eligibility* in the name of your child.

All other levels:

  • Updated information to come.

*What is a Certificate of Eligibility?

In order to qualify for English Instruction in Quebec Public Schools, students must meet certain eligibility criteria under the Charter of the French Language as set out by the Quebec government.

To obtain a Certificate of Eligibility, parents must complete an application at the Community Services (Law 101) office located at the English Montreal School Board head office. Please consult the EMSB website for information on eligibility requirements:

How do I Register?

East Hill registers new students throughout the school year, however, acceptance depends on classroom availability and whether the student lives within the school's boundaries. Parents must have a Certificate of Eligibility for their child.

You must bring the following documents with you to East Hill register your child:

  • The child’s Birth Certificate (long version) showing the names of both parents,
  • The child’s Medicare card,
  • The Certificate of Eligibility of the child being registered, if available, otherwise the Certificate of Eligibility of a sibling or parent and
  • The Birth Certificate of the parent who applied for the sibling’s Certificate of Eligibility or is using their Certificate of Eligibility.
  • A copy of the “Carnet de Santé” ( all pages )

East Hill School Territory

Each elementary school within the EMSB serves the community within it's boundaries. Children living within these boundaries and their siblings have priority over children living outside of the school boundaries when registering at the school. Students living outside of the school boundaries are not eligible for bussing.
