
Torans , like the one from the state of Gujarat, are traditionally hung above the main entrance of the home on the ceremonial ocassions, as a sign of welcome. Although they may appear simply decorative, the color and even the Indian designs were linked to deities and to shades of emotion and mood evoked by changing seasons.
