Partnerships and Special Projects

A number of our schools have established partnerships with community-based groups or companies to help beautify their schools.

Dante: $5000 grant. Lunch bags. Less garbage.

Edward Murphy: Community garden partnership project. ($1000 from Metro Grocers)

Pierre de Coubertin: Project Wild (3 teachers), Ecosystem provided steel bottles. Paper and plastic are recycled. Ville St. Leonard will give 2 bins.

St Brendan: Awarded $1000 for Green Policy. CAN Club. Cans are sold to buy flowers: beautification of school.

The Laurier MacDonald secondary 4 students took part in a recycled bag contest. Their masterpieces were exhibited at the St-Léonard Écoquartier on December 8, 2011.

James Lyng: Awarded two grants from Metro Grocers.

John F. Kennedy: Student Eco-Centre: Compost, garden, cedar garden, rain-water recovery; bike racks, picnic tables built by students. Evergreen Canada Sponsorship Program: Building an Outdoor Classroom.

St. Pius X Adult Centre: After two years, both kitchens at St. Pius X are fully composting, which culminates in May of each year when Compost Montreal brings back some of the finished compost in order for students to spread it out in the school’s garden – bringing the process full circle.
