Repercussion Theatre

MONTREAL, MARCH 28, 2012-  The vocational centres of the English Montreal School Board (EMSB)  participated in the  recent 12th edition of the Montreal Regional Skills Competitions.  Besides the EMSB, students from vocational centres  a the four other Montreal-island boards (Lester B.  Pearson, Commission scolaire de  Montréal, Commission scolaire Marguerite Bourgeoys and the Commission scolaire de la Pointe-de-l'Île )  took part, as did the  Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec  (ITHQ) participated in 26 different programs

EMSB Interim Director of  Adult Education and Vocational Services  Cosmo Della Rocca notes that the department participated in 10 programs.  At a recent gala   hosted by the Pearson Adult Career Centre (LBPSB) for the Regional level winners,   the EMSB faired very well winning eight medals:  three gold, five silver and  three bronze.

Raymond Copada, Celestine Nunes, Lin Kal Shi, and Kyunghee Lee qualified to go to the Provincial Olympics,  which will be held in Quebec City  from May 1 to 5.  There are 33 competitors in total at that level.

The Canadian National Skills Olympics will take place in Edmonton, Alberta from May 13 to 18. This competition will enable the winners to go to the World Skills Olympics in Lipzig, Germany in July 2013.

The EMSB representative for the Vocational Skills Olympics is Pedagogical Consultant Mario Marrazza. He is also the EMSB’s delegate for the Montreal Island Skills Committee, for which he serves as  co-chair.  Similarly, he coordinates the Abilympics  (Skills competition for special needs adults) for the EMSB at all levels and has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Abilympics Canada.
