MONTREAL, SEPTEMBER 13, 2012 – It was a record setting summer for the Bouncing Boys Back to Books summer camp, a two-week program organized by Westmount Park Elementary School and the Strachan Hartley Foundation.

Held at Westmount Park Elementary School, the camp welcomed 30 students from Westmount Park Elementary School for two weeks of both educational and fun activities, such as field trips to the National Film Board and LaserQuest.

Aside from field trips, students also performed plays that they created for their families and exchanged self-made character trading cards with their friends in the spirit of promoting literacy through student-generated projects. Additionally, basketball activities were geared toward team building and collaboration.

Serving as mentors for the two weeks were EMSB Teachers Pamela Price, Sarah Smart and Dwayne Harris. The three partnered with basketball coaches, EMSB Child Care Worker Gavin Sealey and EMSB alumni Stephen Hazard and Gary Simpson as they all worked together to help the students achieve their self-designed goals.

At the end of the camp, students and their families were invited to celebrate a successful camp with a Bar-B-Q. Joining the campers and their families was Daniela Lattanzio, who recently begun her first year as Principal at Westmount Park Elementary School.
