WESTMOUNT HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CLASS TO SERVE AS MENTORS

MONTREAL, JANUARY 31, 2013 – Continuing in their role as community leaders, the Leadership class of Westmount High School has partnered with CCS Community Services in order to serve as mentors for children between the ages of 11 and 14.

Beginning on February 1, selected students from the Leadership class will come together for a team-building workshop where they will begin their mentorship training. The following week, on February 8, the students will meet the children they will be mentoring for the first time and together, will attend a McGill University Hockey game.

CCS Community Services is a not for profit organization that develops and provides continuum of support services for families and individuals regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, age or language.

This program is one of CCS’ new initiatives intended to help adolescents who are struggling within their home, school and family environments. The ultimate goal of the mentorship program is to provide both male and female adolescents an opportunity to bond with and confide in their peers.

Group activities are set to include McGill University basketball and hockey games, ball hockey games and a variety of workshops outside of school hours, Friday evenings and weekends. Each activity will incorporate motivational and educational aspects.
