2014 HYDRO-QUÉBEC SCIENCE FAIR

Winners of the Montreal Regional Science & Technology Fair announced!

Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, March 25, 2014 – The 2014 Hydro-Québec Montreal Regional Science & Technology Fair wrapped up this evening with the awards ceremony. Prizes with a total value of nearly $30 000 were awarded in recognition of outstanding achievements by the up-and-coming generation of scientists in the region.  

For the occasion, John Abbott College played host to more than 250 exhibitors from throughout the region. From March 23 to 25, these budding scientists presented 165 competing projects to more than 3,100 visitors. The event was organized by the Educational Alliance for Science & Technology (EAST), in co-operation with key personnel from John Abbott College.

12 exhibitors from this level of the Science Fair, which showcases the talent and drive of young students, will now go on to represent the region at the 2014 Super Expo-sciences Hydro‑Québec, Québec Final, to be held April 10 to 13 in Terrebonne, Québec.

First prize

The Hydro-Québec First Prize, awarded to the best overall project, all categories combined, at the regional final, went to Alexandra Cohen for her design project titled “INGAP Circles Around Diabetes”.
