EMSB AND MONTREAL IMPACT TO LAUNCH 10th YEAR OF STAY-IN-SCHOOL PROGRAM

MONTREAL, MARCH 26, 2015 – The Montreal Impact and the English Montreal School Board (EMSB) have announced that the successful stay-in-school program called All the Way with the Impact (Jusqu'au Bout avec l'Impact) continues for a 10th consecutive year, designed to promote the importance of persevering in school.

The official launch will take place on Tuesday, March 31 (1:30pm) at Lester B. Pearson High School  (11575 P.M. Favier) in Montreal North.

Lester B. Pearson High School, home to the only Sport-Études program at the EMSB, also has a partnership with the Montreal Impact Academy. Currently, nine students from the Sport-Études program play for the Impact Academy.

Special guests for the launch will include both members of the Montreal Impact and the Academy: first team goalkeeper Evan Bush, midfielder, Lester B. Pearson High School student and Academy member Tristano Fasulo, as well as former Impact player and current head coach of the Impact U18 team, Jason Di Tullio

"We are really proud of the partnership we have built with the Impact," said Angela Mancini. "There are a lot of soccer fans in our schools. We know that their 'stay-in-school' message has been very well received by students, teachers and parents. The Impact players serve as excellent role models."

Over the next few weeks, Impact players will visit several EMSB schools to discuss with kids the importance of staying in school and striving for excellence. Emphasis will be given to the values of initiative-taking, discipline and cooperation in achieving their goals.
As part of the partnership, the traditional “EMSB Night” will take place on Wednesday, May 6 (8 pm) at Stade Saputo against Toronto FC. This is part of the Amway Canadian Championship, which involves the five top professional clubs in Canada, in the race to qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League, which is an international competition between professional clubs from North America, Central America and the Caribbean. Tickets can be purchased online for only $12 at www.emsb.qc.ca/impact.
