EMSB STUDENT ANGELIKE FALBO MAKES IT TO THE FINALS OF TVA’S LA VOIX

MONTREAL, APRIL 7, 2015 – The English Montreal School Board is encouraging people to tune in to the popular TVA Network singing competition La Voix (The Voice) on Sunday evening, April 12 (7:30 p.m.) to support Laurier Macdonald High School student Angelike Falbo.

Angelike has made it to the final, following an outstanding performance on April 5 before a television viewing audience of 2.5 million viewers.   She sang Say Something from Great Big World.

Angelike has attended the EMSB since she entered the public education system, first at the former Frederick Banting Elementary School in Montreal North, then John Paul Junior High School in St. Léonard and now Laurier Macdonald. Her father, Joe Falbo, is an Italian Canadian; her mother, Manon Ledoux, is a francophone. Mr. Falbo says he credits the EMSB`s excellent instruction of the French language for Angelike`s bilingualism. Her impeccable command of French is being showcased regularly during interviews on stage and of course through song.

“We all want to wish Angelike the very best in the finals on Sunday,” said EMSB Chairman Angela Mancini. “We consistently tell people how bilingual our students are. What better ambassador can we have than this 16 year old student! We are very proud of her achievements and I wish to call upon the entire EMSB family to watch the show Sunday and to give Angelike the support she needs to win.”
