VINCE LACROCE HONOURED BY CANADIAN GRENADIER GUARDS

MONTREAL, JANUARY 18, 2016  – In recognition of his efforts connecting the Canadian Armed Forces to English Montreal School Board (EMSB) students, Spiritual and Community Animator Vince Lacroce was recently awarded the Honourary Colonel's Commendation and Coin.

Lacroce follows in the footsteps of Rocco Speranza, another Spiritual and Community Animator who received the Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2015.

The Honourary Colonel's Commendation and Coin is one of the highest awards emanating from the Grenadier Guards and is rarely bestowed to a civilian. It was conferred to Lacroce by Richard W. Pound, Companion of the Order of Canada and current Chairman of the Olympic Broadcasting Services.

“On behalf of the Canadian Grenadier Guards, I would like to thank Vince Lacroce for the work he has done over the past 12 years,” said Sergeant Marco Mastantuono. “He helped our regiment achieve one of our missions which is to become more involved in the local community.”

Throughout his tenure at the EMSB, Vince Lacroce has worked tirelessly to educate the youth on the meaning and importance of Remembrance Day. He has also spearheaded a number of initiatives connecting both Holocaust survivors and Canada’s veterans with students. Furthermore, Lacroce continues to play a pivotal role in the annual EMSB/CTV Spirit of Giving campaign.

“I am very pleased to acknowledge Vince Lacroce for his work with our students and the Canadian Military in the community and in our schools over the past several years,” said Dora Cesta, Assistant Director of Student Services. “This honour also acknowledges the work of the EMSB’s Spiritual and Community Animation (SCA) service, as it is the second time that one of our Spiritual and Community Animators has received this honour. The SCA service is one of quality and excellence, helping students to understand others compassionately and encouraging them to give back to their community.”
