REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR JUNIOR ROBOTICS COMPETITION

The Educational Alliance for Science and Technology (E.A.S.T) has announced that registration is now open for the 14th annual Junior Robotics Competition. This year’s event will take place at Vanier College in Saint Laurent on Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, 2016.

In this event, students are asked to build and program robots (Lego) to meet a specific challenge designed for the competition. During the two-day action packed event, student teams compete with each other in an exciting and motivating environment where they learn programming and team building skills in a fun camaraderie atmosphere.
“You get to explore the whole range of engineering disciplines with robotics,” said Steven Dahdah, a former participant from Royal West Academy and now an engineering student at McGill. “Robotics for kids is one of the best gateways into engineering, science and technology.”

E.A.S.T. continues to promote science and technology to young students through its sponsored events such as ; “CRC Robotics” and the “Montreal Regional Science & Technology Fair” and “Junior Robotics.” Participating in these events gives a great sense of pride to the students, their parents and teachers. “It sends a message to the community that your school values such engaging, high energy, fun, and dynamic learning experience,” says Agostino Porchette, president of E.A.S.T. “Many of the EMSB schools have participated since the first competition in 2002. Whether your school has participated or not in the previous years, we invite you to encourage your teachers and students to get involved.”

Registration information, the schedules and rules of the games are accessible at www.sciencetech.ca under 14th Robo-JUNIOR (MORE).

The event is open to the public and admission is free.
