MONTREAL, MAY 14,  2009 - The  English Montreal School Board and  St. Monica Elementary School  in N.D.G. will host the seventh edition of the Junior Robotics Competition on May 15 and 16 at 6440 Terrebonne Avenue (corner of Cavendish).

More than 50 teams, comprising 215 students from across Quebec, New York City and parts of Ontario, will participate.  The competition is geared towards elementary and high school students who play in a variety of games such as two-on-two soccer, dance, sumo wrestling, search and rescue, robot slalom, tug of war, a 10-metre dash, as well as a mystery challenge.

There will a classroom allotted for every four teams, which will give them a place to prepare for their respective competitions. Also, sponsor Eagle Digi Eye will set up a rotating video camera in the gym where all the competitions will take place and will be fed into each classroom, so that the other teams will have a chance to see the competitions.

The event will run from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on May 15 and from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on May 16 (which includes a closing ceremony). The Junior Robotics Competition is sponsored by the Educational Alliance for Science & Technology (EAST), as well as the EMSB, Eagle Digi Eye and Brault & Bouthillier.
