CANADA GAME TO BRING YOUTH AND SENIORS TOGETHER

Repercussion Theatre

MONTREAL,  NOVEMBER 2, 2009-  The inaugural project of the recently-announced VISTA Intergenerational Program (VIP) will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 from 10 a.m. to  Noon p.m. at VISTA  (5300 Cote St. Luc Road, near Decarie) in which two generations will match their skills and knowledge about their home and native land in a lively quiz competition.

The CANADA GAME will be played with VISTA’s residents and students from Willingdon Elementary School in N.D.G., and will be conducted in both French and English. The goal of the game is to answer questions about Canadian history, geography, politics and general interest.  Seniors will be matched with students and play in teams against each other. The CANADA Game event is being organized as part of a new VISTA initiative that involves educational and social events which bring both youth and seniors together.

VISTA, an upscale, ultra modern residential complex for active seniors, entered into a partnership with the English Montreal School Board (EMSB) and two schools from the Commission scolaire de Montréal (CSDM) on October 27 to develop and deliver the “VISTA Intergenerational Program” (VIP).  The objective of the program is to explore issues of interest to seniors and youth with a view to increasing respect and understanding between the two age groups.  Melior Group, a residential management company and one of VISTA’s main owners, will provide funding to support the program.  The EMSB will manage the program coordination and student participation.
