ROYAL VALE STUDENTS RAISE NEARLY $17,000 FOR THE HEART AND STROKE FOUNDATION OF QUEBEC

MONTREAL, April  14,  2010 –   Royal Vale Elementary School in N.D.G.  held their seventh annual Jump Rope for Heart event recently, raising nearly $17,000 for  the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Quebec. This marked the highest total of any school in the province.

Organized as a fun and non-competitive event, children from Grades 1 through 6 packed the school gym throughout the day to participate in various skipping rope challenges. Cheering them on were staff, parents and a slew of volunteers as they encouraged the children to skip rope individually and in groups over the course of various sessions.
During their workouts, the children were entertained by music as well as following their exercise, Loblaw’s Cavendish once again donated fresh water and a wide selection of healthy snacks such as fruit and granola bars.   In preparation for the event, the children learned about healthy eating and living as well as trained in their Physical Education classes. While outside of school, they sought pledges in order to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s research, education and prevention programs.
Since 2003, Royal Vale School’s participation in their annual Jump Rope for Heart has raised over $100,000 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Quebec.
