MONTREAL, NOVEMBER 11, 2010 – Senior students from LaurenHill Academy in St. Laurent will kick off December by taking to the stage to address a myriad of social and personal issues as they star in “The Enormous Nose,” a play written and directed by veteran drama teacher Simone Nichol and produced by the Left of Centre Theatre Company.

The Agora Room at LaurenHill’s Junior Campus (2355 Decelles) in St. Laurent will be busy on December 2, hosting the first two shows of “The Enormous Nose”. Starting at 10:30 a.m, students from Fraser Academy Elementary School will see the play’s debut, while at 2 p.m, the students from LaurenHill Junior campus will be treated to an afternoon presentation. A special Saturday performance will take place on December 4 at 10:30 a.m at the Centaur Theatre (453 St. François-Xavier).

Due to the positive message conveyed in “The Enormous Nose,” it will also be performed at the head office of AIDS Community Care Montreal (2075 Plessis) on December 3 at 3:30 p.m.  The organization has chosen to use the play as a fundraiser since its message mirrors their cause, which is working towards building a society free from the stigma of HIV/AIDS, as well as building a community where all people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS receive the support they need.

“The Enormous Nose” is the latest in a long line of plays directed by LaurenHill’s Simone Nichol. Originally from Australia and a graduate from Victorian College of the Performing Arts Drama School, she is the founding artistic director of Left of Centre Theatre Company. Her company performs professional shows for children and their families, highlighted by two consecutive years of weekly soldout performances at the Centaur Theatre Children Series.
