Terry Fox Run Hero Eddy Nolan - GO EDDY GO! THE QUEST FOR $29,000

Repercussion Theatre

MONTREAL, MARCH 22, 2011 – For nine years, Eddy Nolan, the caretaker at Roslyn Elementary School in Westmount worked tirelessly to raise $171,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Unfortunately for Nolan, the reason behind his efforts have become all too real as in January 2011 he was diagnosed with throat cancer. Despite the devastating news, he has not given up on the foundation and his goal which was to raise $200,000 over the course of one decade.

Terry Fox is in the heart of everyone at Roslyn School due solely to the efforts of Eddy Nolan as for years  his passion has kept Terry’s dream alive. As one of very few Canadians to have participated in every Terry Fox run since its inception 30 years ago, Eddy’s enthusiasm and relentless efforts has translated into the Roslyn School community being only $29,000 shy of the incredible $200,000 plateau.

Over the next few months, the school will be hosting various events meant to include members at large from the community in order to fight cancer as well as help reach Eddy’s goal:

  • On April 10,  from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Westmount Arena (4675 St. Catherine Street West) Roslyn will be hosting their annual skating party. The school is asking individuals to collect donations and fill out pledge forms to be brought in to Roslyn (4699 Westmount) on or before April 8.
  • On May 26 Roslyn will be hosting their open house, which will include various fundraising activities.
  • A continuous online fundraising campaign is in place on Facebook through the “Help a Roslyn Hero” page or at:

Over the years, Roslyn has worked tirelessly to teach the children that together, one’s efforts really can make a positive difference in the lives of others.  The children at Roslyn have a clear sense of what it means to be part of a community, both locally and globally.  Their awareness of issues that affect people in Montreal, as well as other parts of the world, is remarkable and at every sign of need or struggle, their students have taken action.  Now, the school is asking the community to join them as well for a cause all too real and too close to home.
