EMSB STATEMENT REGARDING ROSLYN STUDENT

MONTREAL, SEPTEMBER 8, 2011 – English Montreal School  Chairman Angela Mancini has issued this statement in reference to the unfortunate incident which saw an autistic child from Roslyn Elementary School left on a TRANSCO bus for an extended period without being accounted for or disembarking at his proper stop.

“The EMSB has met with officials from TRANSCO to express our very deep concern over this unacceptable incident,” stated Ms. Mancini. “The bus company has apologized to the family. They have taken appropriate disciplinary action against the driver in question and will reinforce their procedures once again with all of their staff. We have worked with TRANSCO for many years. This has been taken very seriously by them and we hope such a situation never occurs again. We are relieved the child was returned home safe and sound and fully understand the anguish his family felt.”
