MONTREAL, SEPTEMBER 26, 2011 – With a day chock full of activities, Our Lady of Pompei School in Ahuntsic recently welcomed their students back for a fun an exciting 2011 – 2012 school year.

Kicking off the day were activities in which the students made individual pennants, which were later used in a neighbourhood parade. Escorted by two police cruisers, students and staff walked through the community chanting a bilingual version of “ We are the World” by Michael Jackson.

The day continued with an opportunity for students at different grade levels to mingle with each other as they engaged in a “meet and greet” writing and drawing activity. Famished from a morning of activities, the “meet and greet” was followed by a special lunchtime meal of pizza, Ficello cheese, juice and cookies.

In the afternoon, the children were amazed by a magical performance by “Fredo le Magicien”.  Following a school picture, the children were sent home with a Mr. Freeze, a mere complement to the big smiles from a successful day and start to the year.
