Pillar 1: Education

  • Create an awareness of children’s impact on the environment.
  • Encourage more outdoor activities and exercise outdoors, connect with nature.
  • Exchanging with the community in promoting green space – community garden.
  • Facilitate reconnecting youth with the community through structured activities both indoor and
  • Develop awareness by creating projects for the children on environmental issues.
  • Field trips to recycling plants and green houses.

Pillar 2: Green and Healthy Space

  • Planting, cultivating, harvest and cook.
  • Use green products for cleaning purposes and or use steamers (for toys) which are all natural for sterilization purposes, or scent-free, chlorine-free, phosphate-free commercial product.
  • Avoid using air fresheners or aerosols.
  • Use low VOC paint.
  • Use non-toxic art supplies. Turn heat down by 2 degrees.

Pillar 3: Sustainable Resource Use

  • Encourage the students to plant flowers and herbs from seeds. Students are rewarded with
    flowers that can be given to their mothers for mother’s day. Herbs can be dried and sold for
  • Develop a garden or vegetable patch.
  • Use Recycled materials for arts & craft projects and or items found in nature.
  • Have more house plants in the daycares.
  • Encourage the use of reusable lunch bags and reusable food containers & drinking containers.
  • Invest in quality toys & equipment.
  • Host a daycare clothes exchange. Energy efficient lighting.
  • Energy efficient lighting.
  • Collect water in rain barrels to water plants.
  • Plant a tree.
  • Purchase products with recycled components.
  • Turn off lights when not needed, put computer monitors in sleep mode when not in use.
  • Recycle all paper, glass, aluminum and plastic bottles.
