Green Awards

  • In keeping with the intent of the recently adopted Green Policy, the EMSB is pleased to offer a series of Green Awards as a means to acknowledge the important and innovative green initiatives that have taken place at the grassroots level in our schools and centres. The EMSB believes that these initiatives should be recognized as they are the drivers of change in our community.
  • To be eligible for an award or prize, applicants must complete an application form, describing a school or centre-based initiative that has emerged from their Green Action Plan. Initiatives should also be linked to one of the following three pillars: (1) education, (2) green and healthy space or (3) sustainable resource use.
  • The competition is now closed for the 2011-2012 school year. Application forms will be posted in the Fall of 2013.

Green Grants

  • In the spring of 2012, for the first time, the Green Plan Committee offered a grants program designed to help schools, centres and the administrative building implement future environmental initiatives ensuing from their action plans, and that are linked to the four pillars of the EMSB Green Policy:
    • Pillar 1 – Education
    • Pillar 2 - Green and Healthy Space
    • Pillar 3 – Sustainable Resource Use
    • Pillar 4 – Strive to be Toxic Free
  • The total budget for this program is $20,000.
  • The competition is now closed for the 2011-2012 school year. Application forms will be posted in the Fall of 2013.
