Science Olympics

GOAL

In an effort to celebrate the scientific minds of our students at the English Montreal School Board, the Science Olympics will be held on January 21, 2008.  The Science Olympics is open to students in Cycle 3(elementary Schools) and Cycle 1 (high school).The students will be given two tasks

REGISTRATION

Each school can enter a maximum of two teams with six students in each team,
Snacks and drinks will be provided by the organizing committee, however bus transportation and substitution costs (if any)will be at the expense of the school.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  November 26, 2008

PRIZES

Every student will receive a certificate of participation.
Each winning team will receive a plaque for their school.
The winners of the Challenges will return home with a Pizza voucher for lunch for a class of 32.

JUDGES

Adult and Vocational Centres would be asked to select 15 judges.  The judges must have a science or technology background.  They must be willing to donate their time for the day on January 21.

VOLUNTEERS

1. Volunteers with an interest in promoting science education are welcome to volunteer their time. “This invitation is open to Board Personnel, Commissioners and School staff.
2. A total of 20 volunteers are required.  Each volunteer would be responsible for 5 teams at the Olympics.

NOTE:

Lunch will not be provided at this event.  Students are expected to eat lunch
upon return to their school.
