MONTREAL, MARCH 21, 2012 – Lucien Bute is no stranger to gymnasiums, but the gym at St. Dorothy Elementary School (8961 – 6th Avenue) in St. Michel will forever have a special meaning as it will serve as the backdrop for him and 29 others as they officially take their citizenship oath as Canadians on March 26 at 10:00 a.m.
The guests of honor will arrive at St. Dorothy Elementary School at 9:15. The ceremony will run from 10 to 11:15 a.m. and a reception will follow.
Bute is the current International Boxing Federation Super Middleweight Champion. Originally from Romania, he now calls Montreal his home. Since making his professional debut in 2003, Bute has amassed a perfect 30-0 record with 24 knockouts. He has successfully defended his title belt nine times and will once again put it on the line on May 26, 2012 against Carl Froch in Nottingham, England. Bute made his professional debut at the Bell Centre on November 22nd, 2003, knocking out Robert Muhammad in the second round.
Taking their oath of citizenship that morning will also be the parent of a student at St. Dorothy Elementary School.
