MONTREAL, APRIL 26, 2012 – The English Montreal School Board will host the 10th annual Junior Robotics competition on Friday, April 27 (9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) and Saturday, April 28 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) at Royal West Academy (189 Eaton) in Montreal West.
Event coordinator Daniel Pearson reports that this year a record total of 63 teams from 16 elementary and high school will compete in this LEGO robotics event in the categories of dance, search and rescue, soccer and the Beatles Challenge. There is even one school from New York City. The closing awards ceremony will commence at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with gold, silver and bronze medals up for grabs at both the primary and secondary levels.
Schools represented are: host Royal West, Bancroft Elementary in the Plateau , Dalkeith Elementary in Anjou, Edinburgh and Elizabeth Ballantyne School in Montreal West, Gardenview Elementary in St. Laurent, Gerald McShane in Montreal North, John Rennie High School in Pointe Claire, Merton Elementary in Côte Saint-Luc, Royal Vale and St. Monica Elementary in NDG, Selwyn House in Westmount, Vincent Massey Collegiate in Rosemount, St. Dorothy Elementary in St. Michel and The School at Columbia University, an independent elementary school from New York City. Their Roboteam has won robotics competitions in Austria, China, Singapore and here in Montreal.
