MONTREAL, MAY 14, 2012 – The English Montreal School Board (EMSB) Before and After School Enriched (B.A.S.E) Daycare Program is celebrating Daycare Week from May 14 to May 18 with a week filled of special activities.
There are 29 daycares in the EMSB. More than 2,850 students participate in the B.A.S.E. program, which is facilitated by 29 B.A.S.E technicians, 187 B.A.S.E educators, four B.A.S.E advisors, and nearly 30 B.A.S.E tutors from Concordia and McGill University.
The Association des services de garde en milieu scolaire du Québec (ASGEMSQ) sets aside a week each year to recognize all the school daycares in the province. This year’s Daycare Week theme is Here, I Reveal My Talents. Some EMSB daycares are putting on their own talent shows where daycare students will entertain each other with dancing, singing, juggling and more.
Each EMSB daycare has also prepared a Daycare Week schedule featuring a variety of special activities for the children. Some of the festivities include dance parties, disco bowling, face painting, magic shows, carnivals, arts and crafts, gardening, movies, percussion dance performances and inflatable games. Some EMSB daycares are also providing their students with B.A.S.E. T-shirts and some treats such as ice cream, popcorn and pizza.
B.A.S.E. students’ artwork is also displayed in the atrium at the Administration Building on 6000 Fielding Avenue. “We wish to thank the entire daycare community, school administration, daycare personnel, daycare parents, daycare students and daycare partnerships for their confidence and collaboration,” said EMSB B.A.S.E. Manager Rosa Fuoco. “The commitment of all of these people is imperative for the overall success of our before and after school program. We also want to extend a special thank you to the B.A.S.E technicians and educators for ensuring that daycare remains a safe, entertaining and educational place for the students.”
May 16 is Daycare Employees Recognition Day.
