MONTREAL, DECEMBER, 12, 2012 – Inspirations Newspaper: a snapshot of our special needs community, is honouring the 2012 Dynamic Funds Teacher of Inspiration – Josée Beaulieu - at an award ceremony at Ecole Victor-Doré of the Commission scolaire de Montréal (1350 Crémazie Blvd. East) in Montréal, on Friday, December 14 ( 1:30 p.m.).
Sponsored by the English Montreal School Board, Inspirations provides uplifting success stories and timely advice in the area of special needs. The newspaper is produced in collaboration with other English public school boards, private schools, special needs associations, CEGEPs and universities across Montreal, Laval and the South Shore. This award marks Inspirations’ first collaboration with a French-language school board.
The Dynamic Funds Teacher of Inspiration award honours outstanding teachers for their work with children with special needs. It presents an opportunity to share a fresh perspective with peers, teachers, professionals, parents of children with special needs and the public.
The Dynamic Funds Teacher of Inspiration Josée Beaulieu is best described as original and dynamic, with a great sense of humour. She worked with profoundly handicapped students for over 15 years, and now is assigned a class of preparatory students for Cycle 1. She has done extraordinary things with the class,” shares Anne Alexandre, Principal of Ecole Victor-Doré.
Ecole Victor-Doré is a gem of a school. “It is not a school-hospital. Nor is it a hospital-school. It can resemble that,” explains Alexandre. The mission of the school above all else is to have the children live in the most normal school environment possible and to have a successful academic experience.
In attendance will be Anne Alexandre, Principal Ecole Victor-Doré; Richard Payeur, Regional Director CSDM; Roma Medwid, Deputy Director General EMSB: Claude Dansereau, Director, Region II EMSB; and Gerry Sklavounos, M.N.A. for Laurier-Dorion.
