|MEGA BRANDS JOINED FORCES ONCE AGAIN WITH THE NORTH POLE TO HELP THE GENERATIONS FOUNDATION AND SUN YOUTH|
MONTREAL, DECEMBER, 14, 2012 – MEGA Brands (TSX : MB), a trusted family of leading global brands in construction toys, games and puzzles, arts and crafts and stationery with worldwide headquarters in St. Laurent, once again assisted Santa Claus in providing children’s toys to Sun Youth and the Generations Foundation, lending tremendous support to the ongoing efforts of these organizations in helping families and children in need.
Santa Claus and many of his Elves made a quick trip to the MEGA Brands toy factory in Montreal to greet Grade 1 students from the EMSB’s Nesbitt Elementary School in Rosemount and the Lester B. Pearson School Board’s Sunshine Academy in Dollard des Ormeaux. The students anxiously awaited Santa’s arrival to MEGA Brands with a chorus of “Where is Santa! We want Santa!” Magically, a robust Santa arrived to this exuberant welcome.
MEGA Brands Communications Specialist Tanya Furci-Argento was delighted that the students were so excited to see Santa and how the toys are made. “This is the best day for the kids and our staff,” she said. “ It’s inspiring and exciting to have them here.”
Nesbitt Grade 1 teacher Melinda Franceschini said the students were beyond excited, and couldn’t wait for this day to come.
The Elves took the students on a tour of the toy factory, where they saw even more of Santa’s helpers busy at work preparing Christmas toys. Thierry Beauregard, a design manager for MEGA Brands pre-school product line, was busy greeting students. “We design toys all year, and the best reward for us is to see the smiles on the kids face,” he said. “It means a lot to spend time with the people we are designing toys for.”
Adrian Bercovici, executive director and co-founder of the Generations Foundation, and his wife Natalie, were on hand to share in the joy. “The Generations Foundation and the children they serve are proud to participate in the MEGA Brands Santa’s Workshop Day – a once-in-a-lifetime experience for most children!” he said. “We give heartfelt thanks to the MEGA Brands Family for their generosity and compassion.”
“We are very pleased to assist Sun Youth and the Generations Foundation in their efforts to help families and children in need,” said MEGA Brands President and CEO Marc Bertrand. “Every child should receive a toy during the holidays, and we are happy to work alongside Santa to help make this happen.”
Added MEGA Brands Chief Innovation Officer Vic Bertrand : “To be able to offer this type of joy to a child is the reason we come in to work each day.”
After the tour, the students enjoyed lunch and then got to share their Christmas list with Santa. Each student left with a MEGA brands toy from the “big man” himself.
