MONTREAL, DECEMBER 19, 2012 – In order to do their part in the fight against prostate cancer, personnel from across the English Montreal School Board participated in “Movember” – a month long campaign which takes place around the world where men grow mustaches and raise funds as well as awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.
- At Laurier Macdonald High School in St. Leonard, seven teachers grew their moustaches throughout November, however, the fundraising was led by Lev Berner, who raised $1300, smashing his 2011 total of $750. With prizes such as movies and Timbits on the line, Berner’s four classes competed against each other as well as Berner sold felt moustache necklaces and one student also made chocolate moustaches to increase contributions. In all, the students, staff members and parents at Laurier Macdonald contributed $900 to Berner’s campaign. To see Lev Berner’s fundraising website, click here: http://mobro.co/LMACBerner
