2012 HYDRO-QUÉBEC SCIENCE FAIR

Winners of the Montreal Regional Science & Technology Fair announced!

Montreal, March, 19, 2013 – The 2013 Hydro-Québec Montreal Regional Science & Technology Fair wrapped up this evening with the awards ceremony. Prizes with a total value of nearly $35 000 were awarded in recognition of outstanding achievements by the up-and-coming generation of scientists in the region.  

For the occasion, CÉGEP Vanier College played host to more than 300 exhibitors from throughout the region. From March 17 to 19, these budding scientists presented 190 competing projects to more than 3,000 visitors. The event was organized by the Educational Alliance for Science & Technology (EAST), in co-operation with key personnel from CÉGEP Vanier College.

12 exhibitors from this level of the Science Fair, which showcases the talent and drive of young students, will now go on to represent the region at the 2013 Super Expo-sciences Hydro‑Québec, Québec Final, to be held April 17 to 21 at the Hangar de la Zone portuaire de Chicoutimi.

First prize

The Hydro-Québec First Prize, awarded to the best overall project, all categories combined, at the regional final, went to Sophie Battat for her design project titled “Soap-O-Matic”.
