|ROSEMOUNT HIGH SCHOOL PLANS MAY 18 REUNION TO MARK 50TH ANNIVERSARY|
MONTREAL, MARCH 12, 2002- Rosemount High School (3737 Beaubien St. East) will be celebrating its 50th anniversary by inviting former students back for an evening of friends, music and memories on Saturday, May 18, (7 p.m.).
Tickets are $50 per person and must be purchased in advance (prior to April 5) on a first-come first-served basis. People will be travelling from as far as Australia and New Zealand, and many from Western Canada. Organizers are expecting at least 2,000 people. The event is being organized by the newly-formed Rosemount High School Alumni & Friends Association. Both gymasiums will be beautifully decorated, and there will be continuous music all night provided by two live bands headed by former RHS students (I Romantici and Casino Orchestra) and two deejays (including former teacher Ralph Whims), playing music from the past 50 years. There will be a buffet dinner and a late-night sweet table, door prizes and a souvenir booklet. All profits from the evening will be donated to the school towards educational programs for the students.
Some noted Rosemount High grads include: former local newscaster Lynn Desjardins, Paul Zakaib (a.k.a. Tasso Patsikakis of Q92), former Montreal journalist and broadcaster Steve Kowch, Don MacPherson of The Gazette, country singer John Landry, former NHL player Jimmy Montgomery, Cirque de Soleil performers Noemi Tamilio and Jenny Jacintho, singer Nancy Martinez, grand chess master Kevin Spragget and Trevor Payne, founder and conductor of the Montreal Jubilation Choir.
