|EMSB TO MARK FREE COMIC DAY AS A PEDAGOGICAL EXPERIENCE ON FRIDAY, MAY 3|
MONTREAL, MAY 6, 2013-- Carlyle Elementary School in Town of Mount Royal will celebrate its new International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB-PYP) status with a Pasta Night event at the school (109 Calyle) on Thursday, May 9 ( 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.).
Parents, staff and administration will be heading to the school gymnasium to celebrate Carlyle’s achievement as the first IB-PYP school in the EMSB as the theme for its second annual Pasta Night. A special homemade Italian-style pasta dinner will prepared by Carlyle’s own Chef Melchiorri from Rome, Italy. Along with the delicious meal, there will be entertainment and a raffle, with a variety of excellent prizes (hockey tickets, bicycles, spa gift certificates) is planned for the evening.
EMSB Chairman Angela Mancini has congratulated Carlyle, saying, “I applaud the team at Carlyle for all of the hard work they put in to achieve this status. At a time of declining enrolment we need to think outside the box to attract new students. The IB-PYP Programme indeed qualifies as a draw.”
The prestigious IB-PYP is now being offered at two English Montreal School Board primary schools – Carlyle and Michelangelo International in Rivière-des –Prairies, which received its authorization in early April. The EMSB also offers the IB programs at three of its high schools –Marymount Academy in NDG and John Paul I and Laurier Macdonald in St. Leonard.
