|ST. DOROTHY SCHOOL TO CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY|
MONTREAL, JUNE 12, 2013 – The doors of St. Dorothy Elementary School (8961 6th Avenue) in St. Michel first opened in 1963 and on Saturday, June 15 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., the school will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Throughout the past 50 years, St. Dorothy has evolved as a true community school, welcoming multiple generations of families. All alumni as well as current students, staff and their families are invited to attend the special celebration.
“When you’ve been in a school a long time, it reminds you how many years have gone by,” said Maria Marrazza, a teacher of 22 years at St. Dorothy. “When you see students come back, it makes you think of all the years and all the students who have gone through your classes and are now all grown up.”
“My fondest memories of St. Dorothy School is the family feeling I always felt not only as a parent of two children who attended St. Dorothy, but also as a staff member,” added Silvana Mirachi, a teacher of 26 years at St. Dorothy.
In addition to the fun, games and B.B.Q., guests are asked to bring an object/memory or photograph of their time at St. Dorothy to add to a collaborative timeline celebrating the history of the school.
