NHL DEFENCEMAN MARCO SCANDELLA TO VISIT HIS FORMER NDG HIGH SCHOOL
MONTREAL, AUGUST 29,  2013- Marco Scandella, a 23 year old defenceman for the National Hockey League’s Minnesota Wild, will make a special visit to his former high school, Royal Vale in NDG (5851 Somerled), on Wednesday morning, September 4 (9:45 a.m.). Scandella will play some ball hockey with both high school and elementary students and visit with some of his former teachers.

The latter will involve him interacting with students in Science, Physics and French classes. Among the individuals there to greet him will be his former physical education teacher Chris  Lagakos. He remembers working closely with a teenage Scandella, helping him stay physically fit by working in the weight room. “He was not a big kid then,” Lagakos said. “Now he is a solid six-foot-two and 190 pounds. We are very proud of what he has achieved.”

Scandella’s uncle is former Montreal Canadiens forward Sergio Momesso, a graduate of  the EMSB’s St. Monica Elementary and Marymount Academy.  Scandella also attended Willingdon Elementary School in NDG. With this in mind, Scandella will also pay a visit to Willingdon.
