|MICHELANGELO RECEIVES BOOST FOR IB PROGRAM|
MONTREAL, NOVEMBER 15, 2013 – Courtesy of the Quebec Recreational Soccer League and Sanimax, Michelangelo International Elementary School in R.D.P. recently received a cheque for $30,000 which will directly support their International Baccalaureate program.
The funds were raised through the annual golf tournament organized by the QRSL and sponsored by Sanimax. The tournament, which took place on September 8, 2013, was established to support the R.D.P. community through the Don Bosco Youth Leadership Program and the IB program at Michelangelo.
“This donation is critical and very much needed in order to ensure that our programs are maintained, especially at the elementary level where the funding for an IB program is not there,” said Paola Miniaci, Deputy Director General of the EMSB. “The community works hand-in-hand with the school to ensure and we cannot thank them enough for their support.”
“Every year we work with the different cities where we have manufacturing locations and this year, we decided to work with R.D.P. because we have a plant that has been here for over 75 years. With the QRSL, they had a nice program in place that benefits Michelangelo International and it was a perfect fit for us,” said Tony Galasso from Sanimax. “We have a very focused target of working with children and future generations. We wanted to be a good neighbor to this school and the community.”
“This money will help us offset the fees for the IB program and we do not charge the students to participate in the program,” said Anna Della Rocca, principal of Michelangelo International School. “The IB program focuses on making our students global citizens and preparing them for the world they’re growing up in.”
