|EMSB SET FOR THIRD ANNUAL “SCORE WITH SCHOOL” GAME ON TUESDAY MORNING NOVEMBER 26|
MONTREAL, NOVEMBER 20, 2013– The third annual “Score with School” program, which involves the participation of English Montreal School Board students at a CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) regular season men’s university hockey game between the host McGill Redmen and cross-town rivals Concordia Stingers, will take place on Tuesday, November 26 (10:30 a.m.) at McConnell Arena.
More than 800 EMSB students are expected to attend from John F. Kennedy High School in St. Michel, Lester B. Pearson High School and Gerald McShane Elementary School in Montreal North, Coronation Elementary School in Côte des Neiges, Elizabeth Ballantyne Elementary School in Montreal West, Perspectives I High School and St. Dorothy Elementary School in St. Michel.
Former Montreal Canadiens forward Mathieu Darche, who previously starred for and captained the Redmen, serves as one of the program’s ambassadors. He is presently the director of business development for Delmar International, which will be one of the game’s sponsors, defraying the costs for some students who could not normally afford such a field trip opportunity.
The games are treated as pedagogical field trips. It is coordinated by Rooths Sports Events and Martin Routhier, a former captain with the Redmen. Over the next few months, McGill players will visit local schools to illustrate the importance focusing on education and striving for a university degree. At the game itself that message will be repeated.
