|EMSB STUDENTS WIN FIVE MEDALS AT REGIONAL SKILLS COMPETITION GALA|
MONTREAL, MARCH 14, 2002– Five students from the English Montreal School Board captured medals March 13 at the Montreal Regional Skills Competition Gala.
The EMSB hosted the prestigious event at St. Pius X Comprehensive High school in Ahuntsic (9955 Papineau). Vocational students from Montreal-area school boards (English and French) had been participating in a number of Regional Skills competitions in recent weeks in areas such as professional cooking, industrial drafting, cabinet making, computer graphics and machining techniques.
Peter Byron and Eric Lussier from Rosemount Technology Centre (RTC) won gold and silver medals in the discipline of industrial drafting. Giulia Civitarese of the St. Pius X Culinary Institute captured silver in professional cooking while RTC’s Jamie Bachelder and Dana Rempel were bronze medallists in cabinet making and computer graphics techniques respectively.
Winners announced Wednesday night will go on to compete in the Quebec Skills Competition at Centre de Foires in Quebec City from May 15 to 18. The provincial winners will then compete at the Canadian Skills competitions being held in Vancouver from May 30 to June 3. These winners will proceed to the 37th World Skills Competition in St. Gallen, Switzerland from June 11 to 26.
