|JOHN CABOTO ACADEMY’S SEVENTH ANNUAL COMMUNITY DAY A HIT|
MONTREAL, DECEMBER 9, 2013 – Hundreds of people poured into John Caboto Academy in Ahuntsic on Saturday, December 7 for their annual Community Day, a holiday tradition for the past seven years at the school.
Truly a highlight of the calendar for families in and around John Caboto Academy, the school once again hosted a bevy of activities for the children such as a magician, face-painting, the decorating of ornaments, a reptile zoo as well as the opportunity to have lunch and take pictures with Santa.
“We do not charge an entrance fee, but we ask people to bring a non-perishable good which will be donated to the Spirit of Giving campaign,” said Rosie Sederico, chair of the Governing Board at John Caboto Academy. “Due to the generosity of the community, we also always have donated food and raffle prizes, which we sell, and the money collected from those is donated to the Telethon of Stars.”
“It’s a wonderful event. One of things that we’ve noticed is that at the beginning of the school year, more people are asking for the date. It’s become a real tradition in our school,” said Lucy Buscemi, Principal of John Caboto Academy. “It started in my first year as principal, where along with the PPO and Governing Board, we thought it would be nice to have an event to bring everyone together.”
