|DR. JOE SCHWARCZ TO TALK TO ROSLYN STUDENTS ABOUT THE SCIENCE OF NUTRITION|
MONTREAL, MARCH 13, 2014 – As part of Nutrition Month at the English Montreal School Board, Roslyn Elementary School (4699 Westmount Avenue) in Westmount will welcome Dr. Joe Schwarcz to address students in Grades 5 and 6 on Thursday, March 20 (2 p.m.).
Dr. Schwarcz is Director of McGill University’s “Office for Science & Society.” He is well known for his informative and entertaining public lectures. Over the years he has received numerous awards for teaching chemistry and for interpreting science for the public and is the only non-American ever to win the American Chemical Society’s prestigious Grady-Stack Award for demystifying chemistry. He hosts "The Dr. Joe Show" on Montreal's CJAD, writes a weekly column for The Montreal Gazette and has appeared hundreds of times on The Discovery Channel, CTV, CBC, TV Ontario and Global Television. Joining Dr. Schwarcz will be Lynne Goldberg, a Chopra certified meditation teacher, whole plant-based diet educator and author of the book Get Balanced Get Blissed.
Dr. Schwarz will discuss the science of nutrition and chemistry. Ms. Goldberg will follow that up with a presentation about surprising foods that contain sugar. She will also touch upon the importance of label reading.
