|MACKAY CENTRE STUDENTS CO-AUTHOR BOOK|
MONTREAL, MAY 20, 2014 – Under the mentorship of a prominent photographer and writer, students at the Mackay Centre’s satellite class at Westmount High School co-authored a book entitled “Quebec Roots 2013” which will be showcased on Wednesday, May 21st from 9 – 10 am at the Mackay Centre Library (3500 Decarie).
While the official launch of the book took place at the beginning of the month at the Blue Metropolis international and literary festival, the showcase will highlight the specific works of the students from the Mackay Centre. The class was one of the six Anglophone classes to participate from across Quebec.
The Mackay Centre’s contribution to Quebec Roots 2013 was called "Life on Wheels" and addressed some of the many aspects, both serious and humorous, of negotiating the world in a wheelchair.
Students took photographs, with adapted equipment, if necessary, under the mentorship of photographer Monique Dykstra. The accompanying text was written and edited under the mentorship of writer Monique Polak.
Books will also be available for purchase at the price of $12.
