MONTREAL, MAY 21, 2014 – Competing against opponents from across the English Montreal School Board, the St. Monica Titans proved to be the cream of the soccer crop as they captured the Sun Youth Invitational Soccer Cup.

Blowing through the competition in the round-robin stage of the tournament, the Titans, led by top scorer Jaheem Munro Antoine amassed eight wins in nine games. Their stellar play set up a finals match against Gardenview Elementary School.

Elijah Figueira-Knight opened up the scoring for St. Monica with a sensational one-touch volley that hit the top corner of the net. The second half was tighter as both teams had multiple scoring chances, however, the Titans sealed their victory courtesy of a free kick by Figueira-Knight that saw the ball slip through the Gardenview keeper’s gloves.

Luca De Sarno was named tournament MVP for his stellar goaltending play. Congratulations to the team and their coach Leighton Jacobs for all their hard work and good sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
