MONTREAL, MAY 28, 2014 – In the heart of Canada’s Parliament Buildings, students from Pierre de Coubertin in St. Leonard, Gardenview in St. Laurent and Sinclair Laird in Park Extension, took to the stage to preform songs from “Time for Flowers, Time for Snow” in front of a star-studded audience.

Invited to Ottawa by Minister of Employment and Social Development and Minister for Multiculturalism, Jason Kenney, the students took to the stage to preform five songs from the highly successful project.

In addition to Minister Kenney, in attendance were Senator Leo Housakos, Member of Parliament for Richmond Hill, Costas Menegakis and Royal West Alumnus and Member of Parliament for Rivère-des-Mille-Îles, Laurin Liu.

Coinciding with Greek Heritage Day in Ottawa, the event was the culmination of a two-year project that has featured over 150 students from the EMSB. Originally conceived by Dimitri Illias and Maria Diamantis, the project began as a children’s book and CD. It has since developed into a musical and will be reborn completely in French in 2015.
