|CORONATION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RECIEVES $60,000 LOVE OF READING GRANT FROM CHAPTERS/INDIGO|
MONTREAL, MAY 27, 2014 – The students and staff from Coronation Elementary School in Cote des Neiges will be spending a lot of time at their neighborhood Chapters in the coming months as the school was one of 20 across Canada, and the only one in Quebec, to be awarded the “Love of Reading” grant.
Established 10 years ago by Heather Reisman, the C.E.O and Founder of Chapters/Indigo, the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation is committed to providing books for inner-city elementary schools.
Led by Pam Koumoutsakis, who has taught at Coronation for 14 years and Principal Joanna Genovezos, the application was submitted in February and recently, they received the news that they were selected. While the school had prior knowledge that they were selected, the amount of the grant was kept secret until the morning of the presentation.
In addition to the $60,000 cheque, the students and staff on hand at the presentation each received a $25 gift card from Chapters/Indigo to kick-start their book buying spree.
