|JFK HIGH SCHOOL REMEMBERS LAC MÉGANTIC|
MONTREAL, JUNE 5, 2014 – Students and staff from John F. Kennedy High School in St. Michel demonstrated their support recently for Lac Mégantic by holding fundraiser in the form of a True Colour Run.
Organized by Spiritual and Community Animator Frank Lofeodo along with Physical Education teacher Shaun Simon, with the support of Principal Joseph Vitantonio and Vice Principal Sabrina Petrocco, students looked to use joy and hope as a way to look to the future.
In advance of the run, students and staff paused for a moment of silence to remember the 47 people who lost their lives in the tragedy.
In keeping with the theme of looking to the future while remembering the past, the funds raised through the event will allow for the school to plant a tree in the memorial park in Lac Mégantic. It will serve a continuous memorial to those who lost their lives as well as the community of Lac Mégantic.
