|EXCITING RETURN TO SCHOOL FOR GARDENVIEW|
MONTREAL, SEPTEMBER 17, 2014 – It was an exciting first few weeks of school for students at Gardenview Elementary in St. Laurent.
Beginning on the first day of school, Gardenview welcomed the new year with an assembly to launched the school's Citizenship Program. The entire student body, which is 800 students, gathered in the school yard where they took a pledge to be model citizens of the Gardenview community. Following the pledge, 40 painted lady butterflies were released. Special guest, Commissioner Bernie Praw, was thanked for his wonderful contributions to Gardenview and for his 24 years of service as commissioner in St. Laurent. Commissioner Praw will not be running in next month's school board elections.
The first day of school turned out to be even more special for teacher Nina Wong and student Elisa Vitovszki. Wong was nominated by Elisa in 92.5 The Beat’s Back to School teacher appreciation contest, and on the first day of classes, Wong was recognized and her class was treated to apples and apple pie from Quinn Farms. “Learning with Ms. Wong is fun,” said Elisa.
