GARDENVIEW STUDENTS, STAFF AND PARENTS FILL DESKS AND LOCKERS WITH SUPPLIES

MONTREAL, SEPTEMBER 17, 2014 – While students are overwhelmed with excitement at the beginning of the school year, parents are often faced with hefty bills to secure necessary supplies for the year. With that in mind, Valerie Nandhra, a teacher at Gardenview School in St. Laurent sought to lend a hand.

Valerie, along with students Nazario Richard-Yates and Talia Puterman-Salzman created the “Student to Student Initiative,” a program that ensures that their peers have basic school supplies to begin the year.

The two students and Valerie were recently joined by Principal Evelyne Alfonsi and Vice-Principal Rea Limperopoulos as over 150 beautifully decorated boxes filled with school supplies were delivered to Coronation Elementary School in Cote Des Neiges, Parkdale School in St. Laurent and Westmount Park Elementary School.

A number of Gardenview families contributed to the success of this initiative.
