|GENERAL VANIER STUDENTS BRING CHEER TO RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE AGAIN|
MONTREAL, DECEMBER 17, 2014 – A group of students and parent volunteers from General Vanier Elementary School in St. Léonard proudly continued the tradition started last year by cooking a meal and spending time with the families at the Ronald McDonald House on Hudson Avenue in Côte des Neiges.
A total of 14 students from Grades 4 through 6 were carpooled by parents to participate in the Ronald McDonald Share-A-Meal program. In addition to cooking a bountiful meal of pasta, meatloaf, salad and a variety of desserts, students also donated brand-new toys and a cheque for $252, raised from a Dress Down Day in November.
“It felt so good to give rather than receive and I was so happy to be a part of it,” Kayla. “It made me realize how fortunate we are."
Other activities included cookie decorating, bracelet making and shape making balloon forms, organized by these enthusiastic tweens.
“Going to the Ronald McDonald House was an extraordinary opportunity,” said Angelica. “Seeing smiles on the children's faces made me think of the tough times they are going through and they need all the hope and love they can get. This amazing experience taught me that it’s better to give than to receive. Going to the Ronald McDonald House was an amazing experience that I’ll never forget.”
“On behalf of all PPO members, we wish to extend our fondest Holiday wishes to everyone, most especially the new friends we made at Ronald McDonald on this magical day and may the next few days bring you strength and miracles as you,” added Lida Rinaldi.
