|EMSB ALTERNATIVE HIGH SCHOOL TO CONSOLIDATE OPERATIONS WITH TWO OTHERS FROM SAME NETWORK|
MONTREAL, JANUARY 7, 2015 –The English Montreal School Board Council of Commissioners voted in favor of the closure and relocation of programs for Options I Alternative High School in Ville Émard, effective July 1, 2015.
There are presently nine EMSB alternative outreach high schools, designed to provide an opportunity for students who have left school before graduation to return to a different educational setting. The schools are set up in such a way that students can continue their studies in a less formal atmosphere. Some programs lead to sufficient credits for a high school leaving certificate, while others will permit the student to return to a regular high school setting.
“We believe these elements can blend together to create new and improved programs,” states EMSB Chairman Angela Mancini. “The proposed changes will provide better services for students and a more efficient and effective approach to the use of resources within the Outreach Network. The building will be better utilized operationally and educationally, creating a stronger school identity and fostering richer social interaction and development for the entire school community.”
