|ROYAL VALE SET TO TOP $200,000 RAISED FOR HEART AND STROKE FOUNDATION|
MONTREAL, MARCH 26, 2015 – Students, parents and staff at Royal Vale School (5851 Somerled) in N.D.G. are poised to break the $200,000 plateau in funds raised this year as they are once again preparing for the 12th annual Jump Rope for Heart, set to take place throughout Friday, April 17.
Last year, Royal Vale raised $21,000 for the Heart and Stroke foundation. This total was the highest in Quebec and the sixth highest in Canada.
Organized annually by Physical Education specialist Norman Katz, the tradition has become a staple at the school, as the entire student body, from Kindergarten through Grade 11 participate as well as droves of parent volunteers help encourage the students, pass out healthy refreshments and even participate themselves.
The school also organizes a family activity, whereas parents can skip rope and enjoy the activity with their children, on April 15 from 7 to 9 pm.
As in previous years, the event also draws local athletes, such as Anthony Calvillo and former Olympic wrestler Martine Dugrenier. Encouraging students this year will be a number of student athletes from the Concordia Stingers as well as members of the Montreal Alouettes.
