|FRANCIS SCARDERA: NEW EMSB COMMISSIONER FOR ST. MICHEL WARD 13|
MONTREAL, FEBRUARY 27, 2003- Francis Scardera will succeed Luigi Lapolla as the commissioner for Ward 13 in St. Michel. Mr. Lapolla resigned on Jan. 30.
Since there is less than one year remaining before the next school board elections (November 16, 2003), it was the other elected commissioners who voted for the new member via a secret ballot. There were four candidates for the job.
Mr. Scardera teaches archaelogy, economics, history and computers at Loyola High School. He previously taught at two EMSB high schools - Laurier Macdonald and John F. Kennedy – as well as Weston School, Verdun Catholic and the Vanier Adult Education Centre. He has devoted much of his free time as a volunteer track and field coach for the Montreal Relay Meet and as the founder of the Laurier Macdonald Alumni Association. Mr. ScarderA has a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University.
