|CANADIAN FINANCIAL SERVICES TO SPONSOR VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION NIGHT|
MONTREAL, MARCH 27, 2003- The English Montreal School Board (EMSB) will hold its second Parent Volunteer Appreciation Evening on Wednesday, April 23 at Collège Notre Dame (4873 Westmount, near Claremont). This will precede National Volunteer Week, which takes place April 27 to May 3.
"We Thank Our Stars" will be the theme of the evening, which will feature the LaurenHill Academy dance troupe as special guest perfomers and Global TV anchors Jonathan Freed and Jamie Orchard as emcees. Eugene Lehman, who at 90 years of age still volunteers at three EMSB schools as a math tutor, will be honoured as the Volunteer of Distinction. The event will pay tribute to more than 500 individuals who have volunteered for five years or more. Overall, the EMSB has more than 1,300 parent volunteers.
First Canadian Financial Services (www.fcfs-inc.com) and the Global Education Marketing Corporation (www.globalresp.com), specialists in Registered Education Savings Plans (RESPs), will be the title sponsors of Volunteer Recognition Night. First Canadian’s president, Joseph Afshar, will serve as the evening’s honourary chairman.
The Global RESP is sold through First Canadian, which will give two seminars, in conjunction with the Central Parents Committee (CPC): Wed. May 14 (7:30 p.m,) at the EMSB Central head Office (6000 Fielding Avenue) in N.D.G. and Wed. May 21 (7:30 p.m.) at Laurier Macdonald High School (7355 Viau) in St. Léonard. Sam Gugliemi and Fran McIntyre will chair these events.
